My Christmas Inspiration.

I was looking up ideas for Christmas decor and came upon this picture:

I fell in love w/ the blue, silver and white color scheme and decided that's what I was going for this year. Will post pics as soon as I can.

5 days till Christmas!

This year I have my mother, her fiance John, my sister and her husband all coming for Christmas. I'm pretty excited and a little bit stressed out due to all the things that need to be done around the house. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so when I have anyone coming to stay or just coming for the day (doesn't matter who it is) everything needs to be clean from top to bottom and of course I cook, bake and decorate if the occasion calls for it. It can be pretty tiresome task when you have a toddler underfoot that wants to be held every 3 minutes or goes and does something to make it seem like he hurt himself so I can can pick him up and "kiss it better" and if I don't he throws the biggest fits so then of course I stop what I'm doing and  go calm him down and try to make him happy only to find 3 minutes later it happens all over again.....

Sorry for the late post have been busy. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving holiday. I know we sure did. My sister and her husband came and I cooked a big meal.

Tater Tot Casserole.

My grandmother used to make Tater Tot Casserole for my sister and I all the time for dinner. It was my sisters favorite dinner, so we had it weekly and I got sick of it. I've been thinking and missing my grandmother a lot lately so I decided to make this in memory of her.

What I've been up to today...

                                I wanted to make a center piece for Thanksgiving and here it is....

Very easy and simple. I used some leaves and berries that was left over from when I made my wreath and some apples. I got those salt and pepper shakers from Pier 1 for $8! Aren't they cute? After I made my center piece I went and

Halloween-Treat.

I was really looking forward to taking my son trick-or-treating this year. Had planned to dress him as Buzz Lightyear, but since my husband likes doing things last minute we were unable to fine a Buzz costume in his size, so we dressed him up as a spider.

Homemade Autumn Wreath.

Last Fall I was inspired to make my own wreath, but unfortunatly was unable to because our arts and crafts store on base didn't have all the things I wanted/needed to make one. This year I live near a Hobby Lobby and a Michaels!

Supplies:
2 floral bouquets. (i cut all the flowers, berries, leaves etc off)
wreath base.
hot glue gun.
glue sticks.
wire cutters.

A Day of Pumpkin.

For brunch I made Pumpkin Pancakes and eggs w/ chorizo. Mmm it was Jesus! (saying i got from a friend when something is good.) I found the recipe from this
site http://www.howto-simplify.com/2010/10/pumpkin-pancakes.html and just had to try it cos I looooove pumpkin flavor.

Southwest Steak Salad.

I'm not big on red meat, but after being pregnant w/ our son Aiden I've become a little more open minded and have tried it.

First of the Fall cooking in the Weaver household.

Like I've said in a previous post I plan to cook a lot of fall foods and since I'm starting on a weight loss journey I'm going to make sure they are all healthy. Which means low calorie, low sat fat, low or no sugar and low sodium. This morning I decided to make Granola. For some reason it just makes me think of fall w/ all the dried fruits and nuts.

                                         

Photo's, Photo's and more Photo's.

I've been printing out all my son's baby photos and getting them all organized, but it's taking forever cos we keep running out of ink. This is the 3rd time we've ran out so I have to wait to get more to print out the rest and hopefully I can get done before we run out again. Once I'm done w/ this little project I'll be moving onto his scrapbook. I do however need to find another baby album since I ran out of pages. I found one here at the house but it doesn't have enough pages for all the photos I have printed out already and for the ones coming.

Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies.

My husband found this recipe online a while back, prints it out and brings it to me and asks me to make them so we could try them out. He thought I'd love them since it contains two of my favorite things, bacon and chocolate. Here's how they turned out.

Welcome Fall!

Fall is one of my most favorite seasons. Love the changing of the leaves, drop in temperature, the smell of bonfires and chimenys, shorter days,big comfy blankets to cuddle under, visits to the pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving, holidays soon arriving, the flavors of fall....... Mmm. This year I plan to make a lot of fall flavored foods. One of my most favorites is pumpkin! I've been making a pumpkin soup for a few years now and its heaven! The first time I made it I wasn't so sure how it would taste, but it turned out so well that my husband asks for it each year. My aunt got me a pumpkin tourine last year for Christmas and I can't wait to  use it! Also looking forward to making Chicken and Dumplings. I remember my mum making it and the smell filling up the house, so warm and comforting.

Birthday cake whoopie pies.

Since I'm not in England to celebrate my friend Kristin's 20th birthday I though I'd make her a little something and send it to her.  She knows she's getting something but not sure what..lol.

Yummy goodness in a jar.

Today I made Red Velvet Cupcakes and Chocolate Cupcakes w/ a Raspberry filling and Buttercream Frosting along w/ a dozen brownies. I put them all in jars (except the brownies i put those in a little box), frosted them and sprinkled chopped walnuts on top of the Red Velvet and pink sprinkles on top of the Chocolate Raspberry ones and tied them off in a little ribbon.

Change of plans and the cupcake competitor.

My family was suppose to visit this weekend, but we got a call yesterday morning letting us know that they wouldn't be able to make it due to a flat tire and other things had came up, so that was a bummer. So we spent the day laying about here at the house, ran an errand then had to stop by one of my favorite stores...Pier 1!  Fell in love w/ a few pieces of furniture and some kitchen accessories which I might talk the hubby into getting, then it was back home for dinner.

The Baking Bug Bit Me!

I've been wanting to bake all week, but wanted to get the house cleaned since my family is visiting this weekend. Today I made Pink Lemonade Cupcakes and sugar cookies so I could use my new cookie cutter in the shape of a cupcake. Here are the yummy goodies:
